Without Intrinsic Curiosity and Money to Spend, Cohort-based Online Courses Won't Work

Cohort-based online courses are the future.
They'll be the new normal in education soon.

How soon though?

Given that this means changing the education system from the ground up, I'm not too optimistic.

In 2021, cohort-based online courses are for intrinsically motivated middle-class folks only. Because online you need to actively seek out what you want to learn.

Not only do you need intrinsic motivation for successful online learning, you also need some money. A lot of people can't afford even a $50 online course.

Long-term, costs will come down, so that likely won't be an issue.

How do you get that intrinsic thirst for learning though, if you're not from an educated family?

The internet allows us to scale the best teachers and resources. We can reach everyone now. Most people, however, don't have the curiosity and money required to succeed in a cohort-based online course.

What can we do about this?
